I'm a grandparent of a autistic four and a half year old who's sleep pattern is really affecting my daughter and her partner.
He can go to bed between seven and eight pm but wakes up around midnight screaming and will be up then until around five or six am.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks chris
Hi Chris,You might want to have a look at our advice page for parents and carers here on the NAS site about sleep and autism - https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/physical-health/sleep/parents - which has information about possible causes of disturbed sleep, strategies for helping with sleep issues like keeping a sleep diary, establishing a reassuring routine and making the bedroom as comfortable as possible, as well as links to other organisations that help with sleep issues specifically, and the NAS helpline is linked at the bottom.Hope this is of some help,Ross - mod
