Dyslexic Fingers?

Am I the only one bothered by my own typing errors?    My fingers seem to have a mind of their own and deliberately punch the wrong keys all the time - just to annoy me. Smiley

I read through my posts and see lots of spelling errors - which drives me nuts - my need (compulsion) for perfection forces me to edit the post over and over to remove the mistakes.

I have an RSA in typing and computer literacy (from 35 years ago Smiley ) - but my fingers want to embarrass me at every chance.   Smiley

Raw typing example.....

if ifign't fix allllmy errosr then i woyulf me typing gfifferins.    My Backspace key iw the most usded on the kepboard.   Disappointed

  • Ah, interesting. I've looked into this in the past. I enjoy playing guitar and have done for many years and quite often, my fingers move on to strings/frets in the wrong order. This creates a sort of, kind of musical dyslexia, coming from a kind of 'dyslexic fingers' as you put it.

Also, as a writer and editor (used to be my job prior to 2020), backspace was very much in use for me. I can type accurately (and indeed play guitar accurately) if I am looking at my fingers. But this is not always easy or possible to do. I also have to 'think' the letters/notes as I play them. I know that some (almost certainly) autistic musicians do this. A well-known example is Glen Gould. He would hum the music as he was playing it. This meant that his vocal hums would be quite often heard on his recorded material.

If I get ahead of myself, and think letters or notes in advance, I end up playing/typing those instead of the letters/notes that are meant indeed to come next. I've already done this a few times in the message I've been typing here :)
