Mood altering drugs - good or bad?

SSRI's such as Citralopram are used to alter someones mood. Does this in turn make it harder to identify the causes of phsychological/physiological problems such as depression and anxiety? Therefore making them most unhelpful?

    sitting alone, not appearing to do anything much,

    not going out, not being talkative, not reacting to people or news

    would be taken as signs of depression, sometimes people think I am depressed because I behave like this but I think this is the real me, I am only comfortable in this mode and given the choice I would much rather be like this than partying.

    Also in this state when you dont have lots of urges to do things or get excited about the latest thought that randomly enters you mind you can hold a train of thought and concentrate more clearly, Its like a clear day on a calm sea, you can see farther.

    I know this isnt what a lot of people mean by depression, in a sense that I dont have any anxiety and I dont think things are bad, but I do have a strong feeling that everything is pointless or meaningless.
