Mood altering drugs - good or bad?

SSRI's such as Citralopram are used to alter someones mood. Does this in turn make it harder to identify the causes of phsychological/physiological problems such as depression and anxiety? Therefore making them most unhelpful?

Never tried them myself because I like being depressed, happiness is a delusion.
...you really like being depressed? What aspects of depression do you like? Or is it the whole package? I guess you might be joking?
