Difficulty reading private messages due to layout of the website (on tablet and laptop)

This website is infuriating sometimes. I'm trying to access my private messages and reply to them.

If I use a mobile device, the text entry box covers up a good chunk of the most recent messages so I can't read what I'm replying to.

I've now tried it on the laptop and the text entry box covers up the scroll bar on the right hand side. So I can't scroll up and down between the previous messages to see what I'm replying to.

Am I the only one having difficulty? I don't contribute that much on here but when I do, I seem to have one difficilty after another. It's enough to put me off using it altogether.

  • I'm using a desktop pc and I can't scroll down far enough to read the newest message - I get the notification but don't get to  ever read the message - Useless!

I've tried to delete older messages in the conversation thread to see if it's thread-length thing but it makes no difference - just can't get to see the newest messages.

  • To be honest, I can't be bothered trying to solve all the errors on this site - I'll use what works and forget the rest.    I just can't understand how badly a simple forum system has been implemented on this high-profile website.

If I were the NAS management, I'd be constantly embarrassed at the incompetence of the coding - and if they paid for this garbage, I'd be sacking someone.

  • I'm not going to waste my precious last months dealing with a useless bureaucracy for no reason.

  • Even the basic layout is a joke - on a 22" monitor with a tiny font that I can only just read, the active area of the forum is about 6x6" so the vast majority of the screen is just logos and dead space.     If I up the font size, it just means I get less words in the tiny window I'm looking at.

On my netbook, the active window is about 3x2" - totally unusable.

I'm a member of a couple of nerd sites, each run by a single person - and the guys who run those sites do everything - and they all just work perfectly - so it can't be that difficult with all the funding and resources for the NAS to get its act together and demand the contractors fix this mess - I assume there was a contract and a specification?.

I'll guess someone's cousin is laughing all the way to the bank.
