just a space for people can say what they have been doing today so we can keep up and in touch

  • Today is the first time in over three weeks that I travelled by bus and left my immediate, local area to do my food shopping somewhere else.

I'm tired of buying the same stuff in the same shops day after day.

It was time to ignore government advice to stay at home and see the outside world.

Well.  It was a miserable day with a light drizzle.  Buses were not crowded, just normal shoppers.

Lidl was my first port of call.  It, surprisingly had all the stuff I went to buy there, I was worried that Brexit would have affected supplies.  There were far fewer shoppers than I expected, no queues and no security guards at the entrance.  Back in lockdown 1 in June, I had waited over half an hour in the boiling sun to enter Lidl.

Then back home and second trip, this time to the city centre.  What I remember most is seeing a homeless man sleeping on the grass in the rain.  Whatever happened to the government promise to house all the homeless?

Next stop Heron foods, again no queues.

Next stop Morrisons, again no queues.

    Back home.

Next stop ASDA, again no queues.

I spent over £50 and discovered that life goes on.  Fewer people than normal, but they are out and about.

The best thing about today was the lack of crowds and no queuing.

The worst was seeing the homeless sleeping in the rain.

  • Gosh, you compensated there for 3 weeks cooped up! 4 shops all in one go. Well done on getting out and mostly enjoying the day. Hope you enjoy the foods you bought too.
