Batch cooking - and ending procrastination on the washing-up

On Sunday evening, my aunt-in-law came to clean my kitchen; reading the Riot Act while she was at it. It was like being a kid all over again. However, I have stopped procrastinating on the dishes and wash-up much more often, making sure that the dishes are all away whenever I head out or go to bed.

Also, I'm starting to batch-cook. I ordered The Batch Lady book a few weeks back. Now I'm freezing potential meals. But I'm still a little crazy with the spending. :S But it will work out in the end.

  • Washing up is very important.

I have a routine of doing it twice a day.  Once after breakfast then before turning in for the night.

If dirty dishes are left overnight then the food dries and is very difficult to remove.  Also, all kind of vermin can be attracted to it.

I understand how easy it is to procrastinate and keep leaving it till later,  the next day, next week!    One of my neighbours had terrible problems with housework and washing up.  I was in her kitchen once, and the place was full of dirty pans and dishes, in the sink, on the worktops, on the floor. I counted seven bottles of washing up liquid standing in that kitchen, all full, every top opened and she just couldn't start to wash up.  I'm determined not to become like her.
