Bulbz!

As a geek, I play around with coding and electronics, and I also do the odd Youtube video here and there; I'm posting one of my videos as a way of encouragement to others. I'm quite good at doing stuff rather than explaining it, as you will discover by watching this, it will show how I try my best but won't get picked for any presenter work anytime soon. I hope this video is of interest to anyone on here.

  • Here's another one of my project builds, compare this to my previous video and you'll see how I seem to be in higher tune with myself. Never feel slammed down by other's online, if you have some creation that you want to share with the world then share it no matter what other's think. One thing I have noticed about Youtube trolls, their content always seems to be shared from elsewhere or they don't have any content at all, if or when you get a troll on your comments then just block them. ;-)

    That's the spirit!.

    I have recently taken to Arduino. With a past in agriculture, forestry, construction materials, timber, carpentry & joinery and construction and house renovation (amongst others), I'm definitely one of life's tinkerers. And yet, I don't exactly feel highly skilled because I do seem to be quite dyspraxic. I'm a bit locked into the process of learning the basics with Arduino at the moment, but at least I am picking up some understanding of electronics rather than just blindly copying the code. It's slow, but steady. But I have found a Youtube instructor i appreciate.i don't even worry too much about the channel's sponsorship because my generic starter kit appears to be almost identical in content to the branded kit he is using; so even the endorsements are quite informative; as my kit doesn't have any included instructions. But I realised even before I bought the kit that there was plenty of free assistance available for Arduino.

    I might eventually get around to experimenting with your joule-stealers. But right now, i have enough on my plate with the basics, and also with further adapting a solar energy project I started a few years back that I put that together on the cheap;it has been very successful, reliable and safe.

    In fairness, to sites like Arduino C.C., some Youtube channels and Instructables, there does to be considerable online respect around for people to do things in their own different way and according to their individual needs.

    I have also been a teacher for a long time now, but I have retired from that recently, and actually find I really want my third age employment to be a lot more about doing things for myself and significant others rather than just talking about it. That is obviously a throw-back to my post- high school desire to be actually doing something personally constructive. My education has really been quite disastrous; and yet I have achieved quite a few things with it.

    I also have an interest in educational technology, but have never actually got around to online teaching. It really doesn't appeal much right now, but I have nevertheless been picking up some training tips from Youtube channels. Amongst those seems to be not to worry about being a bit repetitive, and don't skimp on the 'fun' elements. It is definitely a performance art, and i am a bit stage-shy. But keeping it steady & simple seems to best suit my individual learning style i obviously do have a few learning difficulties. I am also quite interested in self hypnosis. In my opinion, there is no better form of constructive entrancement than pursuing one's hobbies. My objections to buying into therapy by others has always been that  with my chequered caree, I can't really afford it. I'm resident in a country that has no real provision for behaviour issues. I definitely reckon that I am more than capable of tackling my own issues, anyway.

    I'm also beginning to further investigate C and Python coding. Raspberry Pi is another possible future interest. again, I like the fact that it doesn't have to be excessively expensive. in any case, there is a large inexpensive electronics shop near my house, where cheap branded and generic boards are readily available They also have a large stock of used components
