Rudeness due to social distancing

One of my pet hates is rudeness. Ever since social distancing has come in, rudeness seems to be on the increase in stores.

This afternoon, I went to my local shop. There was a chap at the counter and due to the markings on the floor, I stood six feet away from him. Unfortunately, some other customers wanted to go behind me, due to the confined space, I had to move slightly so they could pass. As the chap at the counter was leaving, he turned to me and said "You should be six feet behind me, you" and walked out.

Then to top that, a young girl pushed in in front of me. She could clearly see that I was waiting and I could only look on in disbelief. The young woman, who is also a neighbour, serving behind the counter said that she is sick of people like them.

I'm trying to do everything right, and bozos like this take advantage.

I know it's only a small thing, but things like this really annoy me.

Does anyone else feel the same?

  • The current situation has created the opportunity for conflicts to arise everywhere. On one hand some people are terrified by the virus and following all the rules and on the other people are sick of the new measures they have to go through only to have people break them and come close to you.

I have had loads of people walk/run/cycle very close to me as well as seeing kids getting in the way playing football and on scooters on paths. I have also been called into face2face social worker appointments in which I was within 50cm of the social worker I had to meet.

It doesn't help that we have people generalising things, and then having a go at them for it. I live next to a beach so it is acceptable for me to go to the beach as it is across the road from me and it is a wide open space, however other people are driving to beaches and people are going crazy at them for this, putting up signs, telling them to leave and so on.
