That means it’s my birthday.
It really is this old rocker’s birthday too but I use his birthday as a proxy for talking about my own.
Why?
Because I’m not that bothered about my birthday and actually I don’t like the attention.
It’s easier to celebrate someone else’s birthday so every year at work I bring cakes in for Shakey’s birthday.

Had a very normal day apart from taking cakes (and fruit) in to mark Shakey’s special day.
Hubby is desperate to whisk me off somewhere as a birthday weekend treat. Will be lovely but I wouldn’t complain about a simple lock-in just watching my fav sci fi films, finishing my latest Jack Reacher book and binging on podcasts

No worries! I wasn't meaning to be dismissive - I guess I could have Googled to find out; but the way that the internet seems to work these days, I'd probably just end up with my web browser mithering me about it when the "big day" comes as well!

I share my birthday with a colleague, so we only have to supply half the cake! Woohoo
Other than that, I would prefer to just update my age on the 1 January of each year instead of having to wait until the birthday to use the new number.
Birthdays are strange. If I celebrate mine I feel selfish and 'Me, Me, Me' but if others do it, I don't think they are. I celebrate the round ones. Otherwise I just have a normal day.

Oooh, now that's a tricky dilemma - should I risk making you self-conscious by wishing you "happy birthday" or not? Hmmm; I'll go with; "Happy Birthday Shakey"!
It's proving to be a tricky subject for me this year, as I hit one of the "big ones" (my half-century), so a few people have started mithering months before the "big day". I'm just the same as you, I really don't get all the fuss about anniversaries; I don't like being the centre of attention; and quite honestly, I don't really enjoy any of the things that people usually expect to do as celebrations. There's something about being expected to be jolly just because of the day of the year that really rubs me up the wrong way - it's my birthday, and I'll grump if I want to!
Even as a child, I'd rather have been up in my bedroom playing with my Lego than surrounded by over-excited people, and I really struggled to understand the reciprocal gift-giving thing (from a young age, I preferred the odd fiver in a card to ostentatious presents - I wanted to save up for my own little special things that I bought for myself).
As for shared celebrity birthdays - I honestly have no idea, as I've never had the slightest interest in those kind of personal details, even about people that I really admire (I struggle enough to remember family birthdays - though thankfully, it seems to be a family trait that none of us are much bothered.)
