Dear Colleague...

<sarcasm_mode>

Wonderful news that I just couldn't wait to tell you all about! According my latest e-mail from the NAS, I'm a "colleague" now! I had no idea that they thought of me so highly for scribbling the odd forum post - I'm really not sure that I deserve such accolades, you know!

It does make such a nice change from the usual depressing e-mails highlighting their desperate need for me to rummage through whatever's left of my disability benefits at the end of the month for a donation (actually, I must remember to send them an apology; I'm ashamed to say that I didn't manage to save anything for them at all this month - I accidentally slipped out of hyper-focus for a moment and allowed my tummy to penetrate my interoceptive insensitivity yet again. If only the local supermarket would turn up their lights and muzak system a bit more to spare me from such temptations, I might have had a tad more loose change to spare. Yeeesss, I know - excuses, excuses!)

My curiosity piqued by this unexpected and undeserved compliment; I clicked the link rather than thoughtlessly binning yet another shining example of the NAS's uncanny empathy for my situation. Apparently, they appreciate me so much that they've invited me to a conference -  well, not to actually attend the conference, of course, don't be silly - but for the measly sum of £295, I could watch a recording of it online "on demand" (NetFlix could learn a lesson or two there, I think!)

I was very tempted by this generous offer, I have to say - but then I had second thoughts; would someone like me really want know what was being said about autistic people by a bunch of super-clever experts? No doubt it's all very complicated and technical; and, after all, what would I know about it? - my only experience is half a century of living with the condition!

Mind you, a few £300 fees would make a nice slush fund to provide a few tokens of gratitude for a handful of weekend moderators to meet and greet our friendly race-supremacist spammers - and I am looking for a job at the moment, as it happens (hint, hint!)

Come on NAS - up your game a bit! The spam on the forum is bad enough without you spamming as well!
