Is this a heartfelt apology? How would you feel if you received this message?

Hi [Recipient’s name],

I hope that you are well. I want to say that I am genuinely and profoundly sorry for the messages that I sent to you over the last few years. As you might know I was going through a difficult time but that is absolutely no excuse for my behaviour, those messages are now very much a matter of regret especially as your very kind advice was extremely useful to me.

Please accept both my heartfelt apologies and thanks.

All the best,

[My name]

  • I would say that seems like a genuine apology, and yes heartfelt.  If I received that but didn’t respond immediately it would mean I was thinking about the best response, maybe clearing my thoughts while i put  together a reply.   I have recently given a heartfelt apology to a a friend and tried to make arrangements to meet up etc but they just ignored me and that did hurt but several months on I’m fine about it.  Also some people have no idea how things are for other people.  My friend at the time was not very understanding hope yout apology is accepted and if not just move on and focus on all the positive friendships you have x
