What About a Cat Carrying Backpack?

Hello folks, I have an autistic child in our family and I read in a 2018 study here https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5862067/ called "Affectionate Interactions of Cats with Children Having Autism Spectrum Disorder" that having and playing with a cat might help and is an important therapeutic method in kids development.

I was wondering, if giving a cat carrying backpack like one of these mentioned here https://petsomely.com/10-best-cat-backpack-carriers for Christmas might help this child a little. What do you think? Do you have any experience with animal therapy?

Thanks for your thoughts.

  • Have you thought about trainning your cat to walk on a lead or be carried on a lead.

We have a cat and she hates boxes and we take her on a lead. My husband who has recently been diagnosed as autistic takes her to the barbers, dentist as well as restaurants. We literally carry her on our shoulders and she walks home. It helps him alot when we are out .

It takes time to train and certain breads are easier than others.

  • The lead sounds better, I clicked the link and a cat stuck in a backpack isnt nice at all especially in warmer weather. My cats come with me and my dog on walks, they free range though and dont have leads
