autism and sport

Dear community users,

I am a Dutch lecturer at University of Applied Sciences Arnhem Nijmegen (HAN). My specialty is sport-participation and I am working on a new idea:

To create chances for everyone I want to know what the best way is for choosing a sport for someone with ASD.

  • Chess or Poker.

lots of debate about chess as a sport,

I think it is because it depends on performance against the clock and good physical fitness and endurance is essential at the top level.

Poker is problematic because some obsessive personalities can take it too far,

but it suits the autistic personality, encourages skills of reading people and their motives, and can be played quietly.

Also in poker the trait of not being over emotional is an advantage.
