Im looking for advice and help please :-(
Our son will be starting school in September 2020 but we've been told his NHS assessment date could be past that. Thats just absurd. Its unfair as we all want the best for our children.
We are looking into a private assessment but we aren't sure what a reasonable price is or who's who. We cant afford the £2800 recently qouted :-(
We live near Stanstead in Essex but will happily travel. We are at a complete loss.
The NHS has just published the first set of data (from 2018) on waiting times. It's incomplete but suggests the average wait was around 11 months last year. Pressure is being put on services to do more assessments and clear their waiting lists.
A new children's autism / neurodevelopmental conditions centre in the midlands has opened, see: https://www.caudwellchildren.com/new-18-million-autism-centre-opens/
Do hope you manage to get a good quality timely assessment on the NHS as you are entitled to.
11 months is really good on the NHS. Our son was clearly on the spectrum as the nursery school put him forward. He was finally diagnosed aged 8. Adults is also a 5 year plus wait here in suffolk
