Father Ted

I am late to this topic but yeah Fr. Ted is incredible. I find myself relating things back to it all the time. For example, recently at an agricultural show (which is something I have never been into) I couldn't help but think of the sheep episode and the same when I went to caves. Even everyday life when something happens it refers back to it and it's nearly funnier the next time you watch it because of it. Excellent show, as is I.T Crowd.

Black Books is brilliant also!

Oh I love The IT Crowd! I have every DVD and watch them all the time. Graham Linehan is one of the writers, he's brilliant. I'm glad I've found other fans :D

I love Father Ted! One of the best shows ever made - "close... far away" - best scene in a comedy show ever"!

The IT Crowd is great, as is another underground classic - Black Books.

Father Ted is funny, but that Mrs. Browns Boys is really awful, nothing but *** and innudendo and I don't find a fat bloke in a dress funny either, in fact i find it disturbing how anyone could think it was funny. I like the panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week and especially Would I lie to You, I aspire to be like David Mitchell and Lee Mack and be able to say something funny and interesting on cue like they do.

We've just introduced our sons to the IT Crowd and they love it. It's great listening to them chortling away. I'm not sure No.2 (11 with Aspergers) gets all the jokes, but he enjoys it anyway. We've also started watching Red Dwarf with them, which they love. There's some great stuff out there which is pretty harmless and it's fun to watch them together.

Father Ted is my sons favourite (and the rest of the family love it too)  Have you seen the IT crowd?  Its written by the same writers as Father Ted and there are loads of episodes, you can watch them on Channel 4 on demand - really laugh out loud funny (and none of us normally laughs out loud!!)  Hope you like it!

I watched it when it was first broadcast in the 1990s.  It is hilarious!  I have all the episodes on videos.

I must say that our family loves Father Ted. My personal favourite is the Christmas special where they all get lost in the ladies underwear department and it turns into a spoof mission impossible or similar kind of situation. It's great and sad that they can't make any more.

It's a real shame that has happened. All the best TV shows are from years ago, there are only a few television programmes that I actually enjoy these days 

it has a big fan base , its funny, contriversial and actually really well written, but as always these things dont get 'popular' the same way rubbish mindless 'reality' tv does , money is whats important to tv execs, which is why there arent more like it

Yeah I've seen both of those episodes, they're both so funny! I'm glad I've found others who like the show too!

aye father ted is brilliant, its a very well done show with a brilliant humour, visual as well as 'jokes' 

my fave is the perfectly square pice of dirt on the window and he 'salutes' to the chinese people, its hysterical, and hes oblivious to whats going on

hi Lindsay - I love father ted and always laugh at it, even when it's repeated. I think all the episodes are good.  I don't know which character I like the best - they're all funny.  Have you seen the one on the aeroplane when Douglas jettison's most of the fuel and father jack bails out with both parachutes?  That's a good one.  It's a brill show and loads of people like it.  bw
