Understanding Autism for MPs

The NAS has organised some Autism Sessions for MPs in Parliament on May 1st.

I very welcome this initiative, it is one of the things that I think is very important.  But it will only be a success if MPs attend.

Here is a link to invite your MP:

I hope as many as possible will sign this, and also spread the word on Facepack and Twister so it gets as much publicity to invite as many MPs as possible.  And if you get a response from your MP, perhaps you can post it.  Your MP is one of the people that can make a difference but he or she needs persuading to attend and the more invites they get the more they will see what our feelings are.

There is an opportunity to edit the letter as much as you like, or leave it as it is, so if you have anything you particularly want your MP to be aware of as regards autism in respect of the training, this is your chance!

  • There are probably a good deal of autistic MPs.  After all they are in a world of their own a lot of the time, they often have little empathy for those of opposing views, they have huge communication difficulties in understanding their constituents wishes, they follow their own interests to excess, speak a language no one else understands and once they have made up their minds on something they won't change it for anything.
