Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a hairdressers in the derby area who may be experienced in cutting hair for children with autism.
Taken my 4yr old grandson twice now, but has a meltdown as soon as we get in the shop.
If anyone has any tips on hair cutting it would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks
Granny M
Thanks for the info I’ll take a look at both of your suggestions.
Hi Granny M,
There is a directory available here of hairdressers in the UK that are autism-friendly - https://www.theautismdirectory.com/autism-friendly/hairdresser - but there aren't any in Derby I can see unfortunately.
However we do have a page here on the NAS site about haircuts - https://www.autism.org.uk/hairdressers - with various suggestions that it sound like might be helpful to you, or perhaps even to share with your hairdresser.
Hope this is of some help,

Thanks for your reply.
i don’t think my last sentence read very well re tips on hair cutting.
i actually meant tips on how other parents/carers manage to get their autistic child’s hair cut if they have sensory issues re having a hair cut or find it stressful to go into a barbers.
thank you
