What book are you reading now?

I decided that I needed a new book to read and managed to find one on my bookshelf that I’d only half read so thought I’d finish it off: Tower, An epic History of the Tower of London by Nigel Jones. I just wondered what everyone else is reading at the moment? What does everyone else like to read?

  • Etna was quiet. Did not manage to get to the summit, we were taken in a jeep to Rifiugio Sapienza, annoyingly my stamina for climbing was ziilch and the guide noticed. Athsmatics are warned to to go too far up. Catania is a little run-down. We took a light train that goes round the volcano and stayed in a medieval town on its slopes.

  • Hi, I actually wrote a reply to this the other day but it disappeared!! That's a shame that you didn't manage to get to the summit of Etna. Though to be honest there's not really much exciting at a volcano summit, unless it's about to erupt in which case you probably wouldn't want to be climbing up the volcano or indeed anywhere near it! I guess that it would have been nice to achieve getting to the summit though? Climbing volcanoes is hard work! When I went up Vesuvius with my eldest daughter, we went by coach most of the way up the volcano then walked the last little bit, it was very steep, I had to stop quite a few times en route to catch my breath! The medieval town on the slopes of Etna sounds interesting, what was it called?
