What makes us happy or helps us

Hi Everyone!

It occurred to me whilst typing what annoys me in response to another thread that it might be good to share what we find helpful in handling our autism and autistic traits and what makes us happy, if we can feel happy at all.

Well as I said in the other thread - chocolate gives me a good feeling and when my head is full and I'm hitting a meltdown, Mum drives me to a big beach or up on to the Moors near where we live and the space and bleakness somehow calms me down - it's like all the stuff in my head gets lost in the space and after a few hours I come back down pretty well.

Also, nature for me, talking to animals because I feel they understand me better than humans ever could.

So what helps you or makes you happy?

I love it when the postman brings me vinyl records.

Ooh, that's reminded me of something really odd that makes me happy:

    New things.

Doesn't matter too much what it is, but I really like the 'newness' of new things. In fact I often want to preserve that 'new' quality for as long as possible, and won't open, or use, something, even when I've bought it for a specific purpose or use.
