What makes us happy or helps us

Hi Everyone!

It occurred to me whilst typing what annoys me in response to another thread that it might be good to share what we find helpful in handling our autism and autistic traits and what makes us happy, if we can feel happy at all.

Well as I said in the other thread - chocolate gives me a good feeling and when my head is full and I'm hitting a meltdown, Mum drives me to a big beach or up on to the Moors near where we live and the space and bleakness somehow calms me down - it's like all the stuff in my head gets lost in the space and after a few hours I come back down pretty well.

Also, nature for me, talking to animals because I feel they understand me better than humans ever could.

So what helps you or makes you happy?

  • I think it might be. I am a  teetotalist  (meaning total tea drinker). Apart from drinking water, I only drink tea (and very occasionally, fruit juice).

I do get very hyper under the influence of strong leaf tea, particularly lapsang souchong. I talk really fast, feel a surge of energy, lose all inhibitions, and my behaviour becomes more 'autistic'. My support worker has noticed this.
