A 9yr old child that i am 121 for loves trains so i thought a short trip to spot trains would be fantastic for her.  can anyone make any recommendations and provide tips plse?  we are based in Redbridge, Essex.

Also if anyone has other tips on day trips out that would be great.

  • The train museum in York is worth a trip out - lots to look at and you can go into a maintenance pit to see the underneath and gubbins of a steam train. There's a side museum that is stuffed full of memorabilia and models too. It's right next to York train station.

I live near to the main Euston line so there's always good stuff going by if you follow the timetables. Like the Flying Scotsman & Mallard.
