In my childhood, my mother usually gave boxes of chocolate every year, quality street or roses.
When I was around 14, my father gave me a toy crossbow, fully functional made out of metal and wooden or was it plastic bolts???. And...on the first day, I accidentally shot my sister in her thigh. She had very, very, very bad bruising.
Now, I always get either socks, shaving cream, deodorants.
In 2005 or 2004, I was considering buying myself a DVD player just as prices were crashing to acceptable levels.
I was thinking of buying it in the after Christmas sales, I was looking at the quality ones, reasoning that the higher the pre Christmas price, the more room there is for big price cuts.
My sister noticed me looking at DVD players in an Argos catalogue. And dropped a big hint that I shouldn't buy one.
And, yes she got me one. One of the very cheap ones. A few days later she came round and wanted to know how I liked it. Saying that it was the cheapest one she could find on the internet. I felt sick.
