And we have social 'masculine' conditioning to deal with!
Hi,
it's my new group on fb for women on the autistic spectrum.
I've changed the settings to 'open' now but once people are in if they want it 'closed' so they say stuff without everyone seeing what they've written I can change that back.
I set it up as a network for women on the spectrum because there is so little out there for us.
We're under-diagnosed and under-represented and the challenges we meet might vary to men on the spectrum. for example we have social 'feminine' conditioning to deal with.
It's a work in progress, comments and suggestions welcome.
Tara
P.S. One in 500 comes from the fact one in 100 are autistic, and 4 out of 5 autistic people are male so women on the spectrum are one in 500.
Hi grazza86 and KeanoLulu,
Thanks for bringing these groups to everyone's attention. Although these groups are not run by the NAS, it's good to see what else is available. We'd be very interested in users' feedback about participating in these groups.
I've noticed that the 'one in 500' group is private; can someone tell us a bit about how easy it is to gain access, please?
Many thanks,
Alex R - mod
here's one for women too...
