Struggling to find reading material.. Recommendations welcomed..

Hi all

Would really appreciate some suggestions as I'm feeling a bit stuck ..

My son is nearly 10, and loves reading, however, I'm struggling to find books that make sense to him... He has just finished reading the HarryPotter books which he was reluctant to start but then raced through and loved.  Does anyone know of another series for older readers that might challenge him but still be suitable? He loves fantasy and magic but abstract language quickly frustrates him :s !
I would be careful to introduce Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy yet due to content
Have you read them? I have.

They were written as, and are, children's stories, and there is nothing in them that you wouldn't find in many other stories aimed at children.

They just happen to also appeal to adults because they're very, very, good.

Yes I have read them and really enjoyed them, but would not recommend them to a 9 year old with ASD.  Mainly the third one till they are older.

But that's just my opinion.  Smile
