Struggling to find reading material.. Recommendations welcomed..

Hi all

Would really appreciate some suggestions as I'm feeling a bit stuck ..

My son is nearly 10, and loves reading, however, I'm struggling to find books that make sense to him... He has just finished reading the HarryPotter books which he was reluctant to start but then raced through and loved.  Does anyone know of another series for older readers that might challenge him but still be suitable? He loves fantasy and magic but abstract language quickly frustrates him :s !

  • Hiya, I'd recommend Terry Pratchet books aimed at kids, like The Amazing Maurice and his Talking Rodents (can't remember the full title but its along those lines).

If you son likes the humour, he could go on to read other kids books by Pratchet or even the more adult ones like the Discworld series, which are good for learning new words. Pratchets stuff was also a great source of entertainment for me growing up as it made fun of social situations that never made sense to me. :)
