Any courses run in south/west wales?

Hi,

I am quite new to all things autism related as my Daughter is awaiting a possible diagnosis.

I managed to attend the HELP 1 programme last year which was fantastic and really informative.  But, whenever i look up future classes, workshops etc for parent/carers etc there never seems to be any around west Wales, or non that i am aware of.

Also, what other courses have any of you attended before, what were they like?

    I have just had a look and the closest event to me is around 2 hours drive plus from where i live  (i checked for the whole year).  I will keep checking though as im sure many more events will be added and maybe there will be something near me even if it was an hours drive away, if i was interested i would go.

    There are a few courses i am coming across though through other sites which are a little nearer.

  • Hi Jo27,  My Daughter is nearlly 5 yrs now.  We have contact with professionals all the time (fortunatly) but this has never been mentioned to me before, maybe its due to the fact she has not been diagnosed.  Will ask around and see if there is one near me.

    I am studying with the Open Uni at the momment and doing a course about Autism which is great but it feels a bit detached.  The HELP programme was so interesting and insightful which ment a lot as i could see so many similarities between other peoples children and my Daughter.  A behaviour course would be fantastic, im sure i have been told that the HELP 2 course deals mainly with behaviour, im not sure.

  • hi - how old is your daughter as you may be able to get on an earlybird or earlybirdplus course if she is under 9yrs

  • Hi, If you sign up to NAS Carmarthenshire Branch, they will let you know of any courses and meet ups via a newsletter every other month, also google HAIPAC as they are Carmarthenshire based as well. Hope this helps.
