Planners - special interest

One of my special interests is planners/bullet journals and I love looking at templates that help me organise myself.  My planners have to be more structured and practical, with a minimalistic style, rather than some of the fancy over-the-top craft designs often seen on the internet.  It serves purely to help me function, rather than be a craft project in itself.  The more simple and practical the design, the better.

I was wondering if anyone here uses planners to help them organise themselves and make life a bit easier?  I find getting the right templates and medium is the biggest hurdle to ensure everything works with your preferences and lifestyle, and this is something I am constantly trying to refine.  Deciding on the right medium can also be a challenge as I love my technology, and having some things available on my phone is much more convenient than on paper, but then other things such as meal prep and cleaning rotas work best for me on paper.

Do you have any preferences or any examples you would like to share?

  • Am just wondering why you need an external planning medium. I've got my planning in my head. It is a fixed routine and very much time-related. For example I het stressed out when I don't manage to get out the door by 8:00 with baby & two dogs.

Any external planners would get me stressed out and time-pressured even more than I am now.

  • I use external planners after a teensy brain injury took away big chunks of my short & long term memory. I used to have a great memory for times & dates but things are a bit fuzzy now. Trying to arrange a complex trip to Disney with bookings for character breakfasts, fast passes, dinners, excursions etc. is too much to juggle without hard copy.
