Online tests - AQ EQ SQ - From the ARC website

I found a variety of online tests from Cambridge Universities ARC that provide an easy way to get an idea if you show symptoms of autism or one of the other autism spectrum conditions. I found them easy to complete and they gave me a good incite into how I see the world.

Their list of tests is here:

http://www.autismresearchcentre.com/arc_tests/

If you google the name of the test you can find online versions that you do not need to print. They have tests for adults, children and toddlers

Online AQ (Autism-Spectrum Quotient) test: http://www.channel4embarrassingillnesses.com/features/take-the-autism-test/

Online EQ (Empathy Quotient) test: http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/EmpathyQuotient/EmpathyQuotient.aspx

Online SQ (Systemizing Quotient) test: http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/SystemizingQuotient/SystemizingQuotient.aspx

Reading the minds eye (Revised version) test: http://www.questionwritertracker.com/quiz/61/Z4MK3TKB.html

Azaezl very kindly provided the link to the "Aspie-Quiz" http://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php It it seems quite comprehensive. It also provides you a nice personalised pdf of your results.

The reading the minds eye test has brought up a lot of questions on the internet about whether it is valid or not. The problem is, (which is what I had to stop myself doing) is that I was answering the questions based on eliminating the answer I know are wrong and then trying to work it out from there. You are supposed to look at the pictures and take the first answer that pops into your head, then select the most appropriate word. Doing it logically I scored very high, a few hours later doing it on impulse I scored much lower.

As I mentioned on my other post, these are not ment to be used as a definitive diagnosis. They are good tool that might help you make sense of things and might help you with getting the process of an official diagnosis underway.

I am going to print them and take my results to the doctors with me for my next appointment as I find it hard to talk about these kind of things with doctors.

I totally understand that you may want to keep your scores private but if you would like to share I would be really interested to see what other people score.

on the AQ test I got 42

EQ test: 10

SQ test: 62

Minds eye test: 25

All right in the ASD range apart from the minds eye test which is in the average band.

It is interesting to see that your scores have changed since the last time you did them. Are ASD conditions something that is effected by age? I definately feel more strongly about my likes and dislikes now than I did say 10 years ago when I was 17. Social interactions are a lot harder now too.

ASD conditions may well be affected by age, however, I first did these tests just over two years ago - so I doubt it's that.

What is more likely, is what someone else suggested when this was discussed in another thread, and that is that now I have a diagnosis I'm learning more about the condition, so am subconciously picking the more 'autistic' answers.

A bit like the way that if you take lots of IQ tests, your IQ will increases - not because you're getting any smarter, generally, just that you're getting better at answering IQ test questions.

  • AQ test: 41

    EQ test: 11

    SQ test: 50

Minds eye test: 30 (like you I also had the same problem with rationalising which was the correct answer, if someone where to ask me what they were feeling 90% of them I'd have shrugged and said 'I don't know... neutral?')

I actually had to do the AQ & EQ tests (and my mother had to do the CAST one) as part of my application (would that be the right word) for the diagnostic centre I went to, which is right next door to the ARC.

When I went to see my GP to get a referral I took a copy of my aspie quiz report, link if you want to try that one....http://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php

    My results were;

Your Aspie score: 147 of 200

    Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 56 of 200

You are very likely an Aspie

id the AQ test It told me it couldn't score it because I had inconsistencies in my answers, then I realised that half way through I had been confusing the definitely agree and definitely disagree ends of the scale.

    I kept doing the same!

  • My scores are AQ: 41

    EQ: 11

    SQ: 47

    Mind's eye 20

The first time I did the AQ test It told me it couldn't score it because I had inconsistencies in my answers, then I realised that half way through I had been confusing the definitely agree and definitely disagree ends of the scale.

  • Thanks for pointing that out, I have corrected the link now.

I also scored 10 on the EQ test. I was quite suprised to get a score as low as 10 but if there is one thing that is more obvious to me than anything else is my general dislike of others and social situations.

It is interesting to see that your scores have changed since the last time you did them. Are ASD conditions something that is effected by age? • (You repeated the EQ link where you should have had a link to the SQ test - so, for the benefit of others, the SQ test is here: http://glennrowe.net/BaronCohen/SystemizingQuotient/SystemizingQuotient.aspx)
    And, my results:
    • On the Minds Eye test I thought I was doing too well, then I got my score: 21 (The average for someone with Asperger's is 21.9)
    • On the EQ test I scored: 10 (most people with Asperger Syndrome or high-functioning autism score about 20)
    • On the SQ test I scored: 37 (most women score about 24 and most men score about 30)
    • On the AQ test I scored: 43 (Eighty percent of those diagnosed with autism or a related disorder scored 32 or higher)

Now, I've done all these tests before, and all but the Minds Eye one, iirc (though, I might have done it, not sure), I did leading up to seeking a diagnosis, and with the AQ test, when I first did it, I definitely scored over 32, but I don't think it was as high as 43 (more like 38ish, iirc), with the SQ test I definitely scored higher (more autistic) than 37 (somewhere in the 40s, iirc), and with the EQ test I definitely didn't score as low as 10 more like 20ish (which is less autistic), iirc.
