We feel were melting down

hi all my hubby and i are at our witsend and dont know what to do our daughter is 2 1/2 as you know and has got ASD lately she is getting so much worse the past few days have been awful for us and for her she has had meltdowns all day everyday beyond belief she is aggrressive and harms herself she bangs her head on things purposely like the floor and walls etc she wont sleep she is awake 3 to4 times a night and wont go back to sleep we are so drained its unreal we cant figure out what is causing her meltdowns she has also started the last few days of just sobbing in tears for no reason and wont stop she does this right out of the blue i mean there will be a reason but we cant figure it out we feel like were going mad at the mintue we,ve tried everything she has also gone off her food again and wont really eat which we know is common in autistic children to go off there food if anyone can give any help or advice that will be great as we dont know what to do right now as i say we feel like were melting down.

  • I know how you feel and it will get better, you will look back on this and remember it as just a bad patch.  If it has been the past few days it could be because she has picked up a virus, the first thing to think about is have you made any changes or introduced anything new to her, this could be anything from foods, environments, even washing powder.  If not it could be a simple virus, we had the same with my son on more than one occasion, we looked and looked but they are simply not feeling well.  Check to see if she has a temperature or if she is lying down, look to see if she brings her legs up a lot, this can be a sign of a tummy ache.  If you think she is ill and it does not get better, take her to your doctor, it is always better to be over couscous rather than under.
