In my case and others like me it is ~ as I have always seen things and thought about things geometrically.
As far as Briget Riley goes ~ Yay! I have also really been into Escher's work as well. Most of all though I have really been into natures work in terms of crystals and geometric plains and fields.

Thank you for these interesting links. I am also a fan of Escher's work. I agree about the beauty of crystals etc in nature. They also look good when viewed down a microscope some examples below:
