Alcoholism/parents

Hi,

I HOPE YOU ARE WELL!

I haven’t posted anywhere here before.

In my village alcoholism is rife. I live in a small village in England! I wonder if it’s as normal in other parts of the country, and if you watch your mother excuse herself with a bottle?

My dad, and I used to discuss her consumption regularly, but because we both agreed to have “one final conversation;” Which we knew that it wouldn’t be, but we wanted a way to feel as though we had done something, despite the 10+year intervention. I always wanted other people to know, because I thought it would help us intervene. This never happens I thought my village was crazy for not saying something (some are drinking more OR the same),

I just found out at the VERY least one other person has had to have known.

(More people knew about her alcoholism despite me thinking it was just family)

This kind of makes me feel useless, as I wish I had someone to have helped step in! I also feel like a moron for not understanding so many more people knew! They just didn’t want to step in.

anyway enough bitchin I hope you are alright

(my grammar is awful I know)

  • Hello

You are the furthest thing from being useless and moronic - you did your best for the time, our understanding and ability to respond is constantly developing.

has made a fantastic suggestion - I would also like to refer you to the NHS page on alcohol support.:

    Alcohol support - NHS

You are doing what you can to provide as a caring, empathetic person - that is truly a wonderful thing to be.

I hope you are also receiving suitable support in this situation.

    Take care - Zac Mod.
