Autistic adults from the age of 18+ are falling through the cracks when professionals and the police cut parents out of the loop. Families are left in the dark during emergencies, and we need to close this dangerous gap. Please sign our petition to demand that adult services and police departments communicate with parents. This is a personal experience of mine with a 19 year old son who has autism,adhd and social and communication difficulties.
The mental health services have failed this young man and he now suffers from pyschosis due to lack of communication from professionals with myself.
He now resides in an A cat prison for his own safety due to a severe mental health decline and is waiting a transfer to a medium secure hospital unit to get the correct help and support he is righlty entitled to. So I am calling on all parents/carers to help in my quest to take my petition to parliament for review.
Petition: Require police to notify parents if child 18+ with additional needs is arrested
We call on the Government to require the police to notify the parents of a person over 18 if that person is known to have autism or ADHD, have mental health issues, or if they suspect that the person has diminished mental capacity.
