100%. This is how I feel.
The Athenian legislator and statesman Solon is supposed to have said, 'Call no man happy until he is dead.' That aside, finding a fulfilling occupation that suits autistic strengths and doesn't excessively penalise autistic weaknesses, and finding someone congenial to share your life with seem to me to be the basic requirements.
Self-acceptance does give me peace as well.
As for happiness, I feel happy when I can pursue my intense interests.
Also from helping those that suffer, when I can manage to.
Sometimes peace and happiness occur together, such as during meditation.
What I am living through now, only spending time with supportive people of your autism and spending most of your time with yourself. Its truly amazing.
One where I didn't have to deal with the stupidity of others, where I didn't get asked stupid questions or have assumptions made about me.
On a light note, without depth of thought.
