special birthday- for an abused child [contains no distressing detail]

Today is a very special birthday, age 73. I changed my name several times - the one I use now is my choice of first name, second name is my first psychotherapist, surname is relative who was kind to me. This is my chosen birthday not the actual date of my birth - it is INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Very early morning c 2am, watched world news on BBC news website, consuming [over a couple of hours] a  box of Lindt chocolates. Wrote on my bathroom mirror, 'happy birthday, gorgeous' in pink lipstick.

early morning tea and read my bumper Sherlock Holmes Omnibus. Put on my Galaxy laser lights, spilling bright green stars and a colourful circling galaxy over my ceiling, walls and bed.

Breakfast - ancient grains roll with cheese and pickle - a fat wodge of cheese and big handful of pickle, and full cream milk coffee made with Camp coffee. Listened to birds - an OWL at 11am?? I imagined it was hooting for me!  More reading in bed.

Brunch - large glass of elderflower cordial, carbonated water and lots of ice; big bowl of cereal, dried and fresh fruits, home-made Greek yoghurt. Got up, decided to stay in PJ's for rest of day. Watched this week's Gardener's World on playback, also several episodes of Beechgrove Garden.

Late afternoon tea - 3/4 of a Sainsbury's chicken pie, Jersey potatoes with lashings of butter, 1/2 tin of marrowfat peas. Several cupcakes and cup of coffee. Went outside to look at garden and admire fuchsias. Planned to remove small unproductive fruit garden and turn it into colourful flower bed [like ones in municipal park I went to during childhood].

Supper - ate last piece of chicken pie whilst watching Titanic followed by large cup of tea.

Decided to share my day here as proof it is possible to be happy, whatever happened and whether or not you live alone! GrinningYellow heart
