Loneliness

Although I have joined this and some online peer support groups, but I still feel a tad lonely. I have quite a few hobbies I do on my own which I enjoy. Just wondering how others deal with loneliness and any suggestions for how I can enjoy hobbies I do but not feel as lonely (all the groups I've found are on days I work then have an online peer support session, and I don't particularly want to do three things a day and then get burnout)

  • I just wanted to add to what's already been mentioned, listening to podcasts helps, as hearing conversation makes it feel like you have company but aren't required to talk (though you could comment out loud). It's just about finding ones you like. (I quite like 'What's Up Docs', on BBC Sounds as Chris and Xand VT are quite funny together and share stuff about their lives too. One episode Xand had to run out as his wife was in labour.) It's not real people, but it does help as you can do it in your time, when you're doing other things like washing up.

I hope you can feel a bit less lonely, they say we don't need company, but when you actually want some it feels so sad then you can't get it.

  • found a series on Spotify that gives facts about different animals - each is about half an hour long (or even less) - just got to pluck up the courage to listen!

  • Ohh what's it called? I started on an animal one today as I'm caught up on my other ones and have to wait on new episodes. We listened to a few episodes last October as it has Steve Backshall in it and we were going to his kids show (one of my daughters obsessions with his deadly animals).  It's good when you find one you like, I hope you enjoy it when you do give it a try.
