Loneliness

Although I have joined this and some online peer support groups, but I still feel a tad lonely. I have quite a few hobbies I do on my own which I enjoy. Just wondering how others deal with loneliness and any suggestions for how I can enjoy hobbies I do but not feel as lonely (all the groups I've found are on days I work then have an online peer support session, and I don't particularly want to do three things a day and then get burnout)

  • Here are a few ideas:

Buddy system: Find a friend or fellow hobbyist to share activities with, even virtually.

Swap days: Try a different hobby day or swap online groups to mix things up.

Me-time focus: Reframe solo hobbies as self-care, like "treat time"

Local meetups: Look for in-person events or groups that fit your schedule.

My group meets about twice a month in person, non mandatory and some meetings are in the afternoon or evening. I go to the afternoon sessions as the evening are awkward for me (unless it's the annual barbecue or Xmas party); we have a cup of tea and a biscuit. Recently I made some easter cards.

I get burnt out as well.

Is it possible to take a week off for the online peer support session? For example every 4-8 weeks?

  • thank you. the online peer support sessions are monthly but in the evening and I prefer staying in at night. I'll look into the in person events / groups though and the buddy system!
