When your voice not being heard

Have you ever had those moments when your voice isn't heard?

Whenever I'm talking to someone, and they know I'm talking to them, sometimes they will cut me off or talk over me. Or they will turn to talk to someone else when I'm in mid-sentence.

Another time, I'm talking about something very important, and other people don't take it in,

Whenever I tell a joke or something funny, some people take it seriously or vice versa. When I talk about something important, some people will take it as a joke. Or when I give someone an answer to a question, and they don't believe me, and then when someone else says the same things that I said, the person believes them,

Has anyone ever been in those types of situations?

  • Yes this definitely sounds relatable to me. I have become upset about this in the past. I used to drink alcohol to navigate social situations as I found them so tricky. When I have raised my concerns I have been laughed at so I only give my time now to people who have earnt that from me. I don’t drink so much, I rest more, I enjoy time alone and when I am socialising it’s on my terms with people whom I feel safe, seen, soothed and secure.
