Participants wanted: Improving autistic young people's well-being through a role-playing game

Note: This account only posts external research that has been approved by the NAS research team.

We want to tell you about a research project called the A-Island Groups. It is led by Dr Kate Cooper at University College London (UCL). It has been designed with the help of an autistic advisory group, researchers, and professionals.  If you take part you would have a 50:50 chance of attending new groups to learn about autism in a fantasy role-playing game, or getting the usual care you can access where you live.

We are contacting you because you might be able to take part. We are looking for:

  • Young people aged 11 to 16 years with a professional diagnosis of autism
  • Who live in England or Wales
  • Who have not received 3 or more autism post-diagnostic support sessions in the last year
  • Who are available to potentially take part in the groups Mondays (for 14-16 year-olds) or Wednesdays (for 11-13 year-olds) at 4:30 pm

If you might be interested, please read the attached flyer, and follow this link to find out more. Then you can talk about it with someone you trust.

You can also email our research assistant, Tara on tara.ward.21@ucl.ac.uk to ask questions. We are happy to answer questions or help you filling in the first questionnaire.

You are not signing up to the study at this stage. You will have the chance to decide if you want to take part after you have all the information you need.
