Wish me luck for thursday

Please, I have to go to the dentist and I don't like dentists, they only people scarier than dentists are hygenists.

I think I may have a abcess in one of my uper teeth or the gap where one was, I have quite bad nerve damage to my teeth and have previously had some nerves removed. This means that I often don't know that anythings wrong until its really bad.

At least this lot are used to dealing with people with multiple allergies, ND and the terrified. I think they should be scared with the prices these private places charge, but there's not other option, there are no NHS dentists taking patients on, so its £125-250 per filling, I dread to think what it would cost if I needed anything more complicated.

The appointments for 10am, thats the middle of the night!

  • I am hoping you are out of the dentist’s chair and home by now.

Is the dentist ok after your visit?

  • I'm fine apart from the £190 bill for an extraction, it would cost £620 for a root filling!

I think these dentists should be investigated by the government for the amount they charge, there's no NHS dentists round here anymore and I think the reason I'm going to lose another tooth is because the NHS one didn't drill it out properly the first time, but filled on top of the damage, all that lot really wanted was for you to have implants and take out a second mortgage to pay for it. Still it's got to be done and she was very very good and thorough, said that most of her nervous patients are so because of bad experiences with other dentists. It was nice to be believed rather than dismissed.

  • Oh I’m really glad it went well for you - at least it’s all over now! I’m hoping to be in a similar position before too long. I’m glad your dentist was sensitive to your needs and also did such a good job. Now rest! Totally agree with the points you make about dentistry in the uk. Hope you have a good evening after all that stress.
