Wish me luck for thursday

Please, I have to go to the dentist and I don't like dentists, they only people scarier than dentists are hygenists.

I think I may have a abcess in one of my uper teeth or the gap where one was, I have quite bad nerve damage to my teeth and have previously had some nerves removed. This means that I often don't know that anythings wrong until its really bad.

At least this lot are used to dealing with people with multiple allergies, ND and the terrified. I think they should be scared with the prices these private places charge, but there's not other option, there are no NHS dentists taking patients on, so its £125-250 per filling, I dread to think what it would cost if I needed anything more complicated.

The appointments for 10am, thats the middle of the night!

  • Good luck

I sympathise with you as I have a fear of having anything done too, though from what you say about your dentist, you will be in good hands.

Go easy on the dentist, try not to let the reflex kick action come into play!

  • It's not just the reflex kick action, it's the batter someone to death instinct that I worry about! I'm not as bad as I used to be, but I have fought back because my ex husband tried to take my coat off so as I could have an injection, I imediately went into strangle hold break and punch away. I did manage to sit in the chair and have a 60ml valium injection, that was when I found out that valium dosen't work on me, as after 30 mins I was fighting and asking for the other 20ml they had in reserve.

I expect I will get an OMG reaction when they see my mouth, it's what I usually get, hopefully they won't try and push a load cosmetic stuff on me like the last lot, they only seemed interested in doing implants and facial fillers. I wonder if some of them don't deliberately make your teeth worse so you either have to have all thier expensive stuff or no teeth? I think lots of people have no option but to have no teeth as you'd need a second mortgage to afford what they want you to have.

Now I have to go to the minor injuries unit because I think I might have broken my arm falling over Boris cat.

  • it's the batter someone to death instinct that I worry about!

I’m worrying about your dentist now, should you wear boxing gloves?
    HaHa!

Actually, your experience in the past sounds horrendous, but I’m glad you cope better than you used to.

I started going to a different dentist a few years back, and she gives me extra time.  She is really good at doing the injections and will do lots of small injections rather than a big jab all at once. It avoids that feeling of the needle coming out your eye or nose.

Hope you aren’t waiting too long to be seen at minor injuries and that your injury isn’t serious or complicated. Was Boris OK?

  • Glad you are going to be ok and I’m sure Boris will recover too.

It’s really good that the person on the other end of the phone was so understanding.

I don’t think I’m likely to attack the dentist now, but years ago, when dentists generally were more brutal, mine did something that sent a pain shooting through my jaw and neck. I kicked out before realising, and my dentist stepped aside in surrender with his hands in the air.

  • Boris's dignity was injured, very serious when you're a cat!

I didn't mind answering the questions as the person on the other end of the phone was really nice and didn't think I was being difficult because I'm allergic to so many things, or that I'm autistic and scared.

I dont; think I'd be able to drive in boxing gloves and that might freak them out more than me, I've not actually hit anyone at the dentist for 30 odd years.
