I’m a trainee clinical psychologist at UCL and am conducting research as part of my doctorate research project. I am conducting a study on Autistic adults’ experiences of masking on social networking sites and its relationship to mental wellbeing. The project aims to explore and develop our understanding about the presence and nature of autistic masking in an online context, specifically on social networking sites, as well as its relationship to mental health and wellbeing.
I am looking to recruit autistic adults aged 18-29 years old to take part. If you are interested, I will send you a participant information sheet and consent form. After completing the consent form, if you decide to take part and are eligible, you will be invited to complete a brief demographic information questionnaire and then be invited to a 30-45 minute interview. The interview will involve questions on your experiences of masking online and can be in person or online (we can be flexible according to your preference).
Please see attached my poster, which has more information on the study and inclusion criteria. We hope that this study (and your participation) will contribute to research to support autistic people to flourish online. You will be paid a £15 voucher as a thank you for taking part in the study.
You can express your interest by directly emailing Laura (laura.scanlon.23@ucl.ac.uk), or scanning the QR code or clicking the link on the research poster (https://qualtrics.ucl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_9nlAppCC5XjaZfM) which will take you to a brief survey where you can leave your email address and Laura will contact you directly. Laura will then send you a participant information sheet and consent form.
Please email me if you are interested in participating or have any questions and please feel free to share with anyone you know who may be interested. Thank you for your consideration.
