MH and friendships and autism

I need to leave this area. I’m currently living in. I didn’t expect to make friends here. I just didn’t want anyone to know anything and be able to try to get well.

Unfortunately I’m too ill mentally.

It only gets worse. I am wondering what you think about making friends with people online and offline when you have MH autism and no friends.

Doesn’t seem to be anywhere to make friends in these situations.

autism and adhd and MH issues combined is difficult.

How many people are isolated who do want to be isolated?

  • I am wondering what you think about making friends with people online and offline when you have MH autism and no friends.

Do any of your special interest areas have clubs or groups where you can find people who share the same passions?

The advantage of this approach is you have things to talk about rather than relying on small talk and there is more of a reason to talk to the person again in future.

By looking online then you can potentially find way more people than relying on those who are local to you but the downside is people often behave differently online than in real life so it can be a little unpredictable - but still the best option..

Do you have any special interests that could work for you this way?

  • hi Slight smile

I moved out of the city into a small town 5 years ago and it made a significant difference to my mental health. I don't know where you're currently living but ive found the quieter environment and sense of community has been a revelation.

Personally I don't find either online or offline friendships easy. The friendships I have that work are one's where we do things together or share a common interest. So, I'd suggest to look for ways to connect with people through shared activities.
