Alternative therapies

Has anyone tried any, have them regularly or occasionally and which ones?

I've tried quite a few, mostly osteopathy which is really good when my back is playing up badly, but also aromatherapy, reflexology, chiropractic, acupuncture and herbal medicine. I've found they all help, although I can rub my body lotion in harder than an aromatherapy massage does.

  • I don't know if it counts, but I have used CBD capsules for anxiety?

  • I'd say they count as they're a herbal remedy, what brand do you use, as the oil I used to use has got so expensive and difficult to get.

I love reflexology, you wouldn't think that your feet can relate to so many areas of the body, but they do and it feels wonderful too.

I use essential oils quite a bit too, I used to mix rose, frankinscence and vetiver into a body lotion base and a soap base, they were good for my skin, my mood and pain and anxiety levels. I used to dowse for blends for other people, even my son, who's very sceptical about anything like that, that his old hippy mother does, said me dowsing for oils for people seemed to come up with really good and helpful blends.

I know a lot of people don't like herbal remedies, but they forget that many of our medicines come from plants, digitalis is still used for heart problems, opiates, aspirin and cociane are all from natural products even if they're now synthesised.

  • I don't have any at the moment as my anxiety lessened after retiring from work, but I liked the Love Hemp mild capsules (5mg each). They are certainly not cheap though - I believe the current price for a bottle of 60 is £14.99. They're available from Holland and Barrett (if you purchase online there's currently a discount, but then you have to pay postage)
