Looking for opinion on UC lack of communication

Hi there,

I haven’t posted in a while but honestly I just need someone’s opinion on a situation.

recently I had an appointment with my advisor in October become cancelled and changed to today’s date for a commitments review. However 30 minutes before the appointment time today it was cancelled and changed again, neither of these with my actual advisor.

I’ve tried to ask what’s going on because there has been absolutely no communication during these events but I’ve just been met with purposefully vague and obvious responses such as “ you can’t have two appointments at the same time scheduled “ .

now as an autistic person who values clear communication and the need to know what is happening this obviously gives me a lot of anxiety and stress when there is no communication. I was supposed to have an advisor experienced with helping neurodivergent people but she has not been much help at all in this situation.

am I being dramatic in wanting simple communication or is this valid?

any opinions would be greatly appreciated

  • No need to worry, the DWP is always a bit chaotic,  your regular advisor might just be ill and they're short staffed.

I've had similar experiences,  where I had an in person appointment changed to a telephone appointment at short notice.  Also a telephone appointment where my advisor rang two hours early.
