Feeling disempowered, how do you cope?

I feel really disempowered by my inability to find clothes to fit let alone ones that I like, its the same with shoes, why are all non formal shoes trainers? I don't want trainers, I don't like them and have never owned a pair.

I think it's the lack of shops that makes me feel disempowered, we will need new ceiling lights for upstairs due to electrical problems, there's two places where we can actually go and look at a small selection of stuff. What if we can't find anything we like? I hate looking at pictures online theres just an object on a blank background, theres no perspective like there used to be in old fashioned catalogues. When I do look online I have to wade through pages and pages of sponsered ads and stuff I didn't ask for to the point where I just give up.

  • I get annoyed when online clothes stores expect me to pay for delivery, and then to pay again to return something if I don't like it or it doesn't fit!

Freemans have an online catalogue and do free returns. M&S and Crew clothing also do free returns, and M&S will even collect from your home. Next do not, but if there is a Next store you could get to I understand that they have a range of clothing for taller women.

I used to not like trainers, and I still don't like the garish or sports branded ones, but I have a pair of slip on trainers I got from Primark that are quite plain (grey with a white sole) and they are really comfy.

Can you get to a Clark's shop? If they don't have the shoes in stock you like, I believe you can order them online and then collect them at the store, where you could try them on and get a refund of they're no good.

I buy a lot of household stuff from Argos, as they offer free returns within 30 days and they will collect from your home. B&Q are usually good for things like lighting if you can get to a store.

Don't give up, you can overcome!
