Awareness (non-clinical term) of: "AI psychosis"

This BBC article and it's interviews highlight it is probably worth people being aware of (a non-clinical term): "AI psychosis".

Some people may be more potentially vulnerable to this phenomenon as society normalises the use of AI - as sometimes people can become overly reliant on their AI problem solving use and somewhat lose touch with the trusted people available to them in the real World.

Those at risk may mistakenly convince themselves that AI is already sentient (with them starting to believe they are the only ones who have noticed that development).

- Microsoft boss troubled by rise in reports of 'AI psychosis':

- "AI psychosis": a non-clinical term describing incidents where people increasingly rely on AI chatbots such as ChatGPT, Claude and Grok and then become convinced that something imaginary has become real.

- "Go and check. Talk to actual people, a therapist or a family member or anything. Just talk to real people. Keep yourself grounded in reality."

- Dr Susan Shelmerdine, a medical imaging doctor at Great Ormond Street Hospital and also an AI Academic, believes that one day doctors may start asking patients how much they use AI, in the same way that they currently ask about smoking and drinking habits.

  • Another thing wirh ai is you might ask it a perfectly legal snd ensibke question but it will say “this violates our policy” and it makes you feel bad like let’s say you asked it “how do I starts pirate station” but you ment to ask how do I start an internet radio station it would see the word pirate snd go oh no thats nkt soemthing we want to encourage despite the fact it’s not illegal unless it over airwaves w

    alsomif you try delve too deep into things of a sexual nsutrue you may just be curious why you like thing x y or z thats perfectly normal to like hit want to know why and it treats it like you ask something bad 

    that last point will hurt the lgbt coni it y for example becuase if they have a string no porno questions policy and your a man who’s trying to discover if they really are gay and you might ask why you like men’s bits and it will go all 1950e in you and say no thats bad 

    We need a more inclusive world and ai doesn’t want that 

    but I see it as gay streight what ever im happy to discuss things Seith anyone and help them figure out who they are as long as im allowed to be who I am(ive stop talking to people over things like inclusivity or lack therefore of before) yet people turn to ai which like we’ve already said will mirror what you say so no doubt if you said is it bad that as a man i find other men attractive becuase it makes me feel bad ai would possibly say if you feel bad then it’s bad

    also before I finally go to sleep hopefully that’s all reminded me of something I saw a lesbian couple today who looked very sweet snd very much in love snd it made me think why is our society so messsed up that lesbians seem more accepted than gay men or men who date trans girls or girls who date trans men or at the end of rhe day we all love who we love why should we dictate who someone else should love 

    I’ll get back on Track though ai can be helpful but on the whole your better off finding someone who had that specialist knowledge rather than something that will mirror you snd spit information at you that you either don’t need or want to know or you aldrwddy know it and ai gives you the wrong facts followed by the right ones followed be even wronger facts
