Questions questions questions

Does anyone struggle with being asked personal questions when meeting new people? Some people are like machine guns, firing off question after question and expecting answers, most of which are deeply personal? Then they get all shirty when you say you don't want to answer that, like they have a right to know your life history when they've just met you? I find people like this very judgemental too.

I feel like I've been assaulted and interogated, quite stunned, I'm quite a private person, I'm happy to share my thoughts and experiences most of the time, but in ways I can control without being rude.

I escape from such people as soon as I can and don't answer thier questions, but it's hard when they're the sister of a friend, or friend of a friend or something.

  • Yes! Some times someone will ask me something so stunningly personal, out of nowhere, that I am lost for words and kind of garble some nonsense in the hope of being seen to be answering the question satisfactorily without giving too much away.

It's also part of the reason I struggle with conversation as I will sometimes think of something I would genuinely like to ask someone, during a chat, and I will balk at asking because it just seems intrusive. I am talking about the sort of innocent enquiry most people would have no issue with, but to me seems nosey.
