That all sounds like an outing / itinerary which would get my vote.
Our area's larger library is unfortunately in a city centre which is rather heavily tourism-swamped / oversubscribed at this time of year.
Come September though ...I rather think a local road trip beckons!
My preference is for non-fiction books (lots of topics). How about you - what types of books / topics do you enjoy?
