Indoor hammock swings/ seats (adult size)

Hello, I want to get an indoor hammock seat for my son who is nearly 14, but is just under 6ft tall and weighs around 150lbs. He has always liked hiding in boxes and dens and has sensory needs, so I think he'd love one.

I've looked online but nearly all the nice ones are for (lighter) younger children apart from the ones with a frame, and he will need one that is big and strong enough to take a adult. I would struggle to get a hammock swing with a frame as not enough room in the house and was hoping to get a ceiling mounted one.

Id be grateful to hear from anyone who can give some advice or pointers about where I might be able to find something suitable please.

Thank you!

  • Where I live (Brazil), hammocks are all over the place.

Installation is just two chunky bolts with large rings on the head to tie one end of the cord to - the tricky part is getting these in the right part of the wall that can take the weight and will not pull out when someone uses it (this generates a pulling force sideways so the bolt needs to be anchored very firmly.

There is a nice step by step guide to doing it here:

You can probably get a hammock fairly cheaply on eBay or Amazon - I saw loads in the UK for less than £20 for the hammock and about the same again for mounting bolts.

Installation is the important part of this as you need to identify a connection point strong enough to take the weight.

I love it, especially for reading.
